You have probably seen members of the Knights of Columbus with their tuxedos, plumed chapeaus, colorful capes and swords. These men are Fourth Degree members, the highest level a member can achieve. They usually are there to provide an honor guard for church special events, parades, wakes, etc. These men in their regalia are the most visible part of our activities and programs. However, you do not need to own regalia to belong to the Knights of Columbus.
Our programs are divided into four categories: Family, Church, Community, and Youth. Programs are so organized as to appeal to the individual interests of the members and their families, such as: Tootsie Roll Drive (for People with Intellectual Disabilities), Right to Life Support, Blood Drives, Charities, Community Fundraisers, Special Olympics, Family Masses, Family Picnics, events to support our veterans, Vocation Raffle.
Regina Council #4837 is based out of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Wheeling, IL. Membership is open to all practicing Catholic men who are at least 18 years of age and live by the Commandments of God and the Precepts of the Church.
Membership in the Knights of Columbus provides an opportunity for wholesome association with practical Catholic gentlemen. It offers the opportunity for fellowship with those who are of the same belief and recognize the same duty to God, family, and neighbors who stand side by side in defense of our Christian beliefs. Through membership, you develop an ability to lead and assist others in community and your Church. The Knights of Columbus has a proud heritage. The qualified Catholic man can share in that heritage and build an even greater future by affiliating himself with this effective Christian body. Knights of Columbus also offers great insurance benefits available to their members.
